MY PERFECT BODYGUARD 2 CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX THE CHEMISTRY OF DESPERATION
Richard's journey back to the city felt both long and short. Long because of the distance, yet too short for him to properly strategize his next move. As soon as he reached the riverbank, he knew he needed to come up with a plan quickly, but his mind was still racing.
“Damn! I can’t believe I couldn’t come up with a plan in all this time. Things would’ve been easier if Emma were here,” Richard muttered to himself as he paced around the riverbank, panic setting in.
“Gideon is definitely looking for me now. Alright, here’s what I’ll do: I’ll head back to Linda, Emma, and Nina. Together, we’ll come up with a plan to stop Gideon. I’m not letting his blood end up on my hands.”
"But wait," Richard said, still panicking. "If I don't kill him, he'll kill me. Oh my God, this is bad. I can't believe I threatened a world-class murderer. What should I do now?" He tried to hold himself together, desperately attempting to calm down.
After a long period of panicking, Richard finally decided to leave. He hopped into a taxi and headed back to their hideout.
At the hideout, Nina, Linda, and Emma were on the phone, calling hospitals to see if they had received any patients with burns or other injuries, but finding information seemed impossible. Still, they persisted in their search.
"What are you guys doing?" Richard said from behind them. The three turned around immediately.
"No way!" Emma exclaimed as they rushed to hug Richard. In their excitement, they accidentally knocked him over, causing all of them to tumble to the ground on top of him.
"My boy is tough; he's not that easy to kill!" Emma said with immense joy.
"Well, don't kill me now if you're so glad to see me," Richard said with a faint voice, struggling under the weight of the three people on top of him.
After the enthusiastic welcome, they helped Richard up and gave him a chair to sit on. Linda rushed to the fridge and brought out a Korean yogurt.
"Hey, this is for you," she said.
"Thanks," Richard replied, immediately starting to drink it out of hunger.
"Can you tell us what happened? How did Gideon's place get blown up? Was it him? And I heard rumors that it was you. Is that true?" Emma asked eagerly.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, take it easy, guys. One question at a time, please," Richard said, trying to keep up with their barrage of questions.
Nina asked first, "What happened? Why did Gideon's fortress blow up?"
"Well, I think I kinda did it," Richard admitted.
"No way!" Emma exclaimed.
"Shut up," Nina said, smiling. "How the hell did you do that?"
"Well, I planted bombs on the drones and placed them on every single building, hiding them underneath. When Gideon captured me, I had already planned everything out beforehand," Richard explained.
"Wait, you knew he would capture you?" Linda asked.
"Of course, who wouldn't want a talented fighter like me in his empire?" Richard teased.
Linda playfully hit him. "Why did you hit me?" Richard asked.
"I was scared to death. You should have given us a clue at least," Linda said, tears welling up in her eyes.
Seeing Linda in tears, Richard pulled her in and gave her a warm hug.
"I'm sorry. I just wanted to show you how cool I am," Richard teased again.
"I have to give you that, Richy. That was cool, man. At least my teaching is paying off," Emma said.
"Hey, you don't get to take credit for this," Richard retorted, and they all laughed together.
"Let's celebrate this victory. It's not easy to land such a blow to one of the most dangerous men in this country," Nina said, heading to the fridge.
"Before that, I have something to say," Richard interjected.
"What's that?" Linda asked.
"Well, I think that celebration will have to wait," Richard said again.
"What is it?" Emma asked.
"I think I kinda threatened Gideon, or should I say challenged him to a war," Richard admitted.
"You what??" Emma exclaimed.
"I threatened him, and as we speak now, I think he's coming for us," Richard confessed.
"Oh my God, this is freaking bad. Well, something must have motivated you to challenge him," Emma remarked.
"You have a plan, right? You have something on him, like an upper hand?" Emma pressed, holding onto Richard.
"Well, I don't have," Richard said.
"Wow, you threatened a murderer without any plan. This is insane. What should we do now?" Nina asked, concern evident in her voice.
"Well, I don't have any idea. I've been thinking for a long time, and I couldn't think of anything," Richard admitted.
"What do you mean you haven't come up with something? You were the one that threatened Gideon, and you don't have a plan now?" Linda exclaimed.
"Don't blame me. I was just trying to be cool and confident to him," Richard defended himself.
"Well, clap for yourself because we might be toast. So what if Gideon comes for us? We all know if we don't kill him, he will kill us, and I am 100% sure no one in this room has enough courage to spill blood. Or is there a volunteer?" Emma asked, looking at everyone.
"Don't look at me," Nina said, shaking her head.
"I have an idea. I brought this mess on us, so I have to find a way out of it," Richard said.
"What's that?" Nina asked.
"Well, if we can't kill him, we have to find a way to render him powerless. We need to do something that leaves him alive but unable to do anything—talk, give orders—essentially incapacitate him," Richard explained.
"Incapacitate him? Do you know how outrageous your plan is?" Nina asked, incredulous. "How are you going to reach that part of his brain to cause such damage? Won't you have to get close to him physically to do that?"
"Well, I know of some chemical compound combinations that can do just that. All we need is a well-equipped chemistry lab to get the right chemicals," Richard explained. "The closest one here is at Lewis Tertiary Science in the city, about a two-hour drive away. We get the compounds, mix the chemicals, balance them, then cook it into a liquid."
"All we have to do is inject it into him, and boom, he's incapacitated for life. They'll take him to a mental institution or something, and the world is saved," Richard said.
"I'm with him," Emma said, stepping forward.
"Same here, since that's the only plan we've got," Linda agreed.
Nina looked at him and said, "For the record, I was never in support of this." Despite her reservations, they all prepared and started heading to Lewis Tertiary Science.
As they drove, it was a silent journey with Linda in the driver's seat. Richard sat with a pen and paper, trying to solve the chemical equation.
Emma looked at him and asked, "You didn't study chemical sciences in school. You focused more on tech. How do you know about chemistry?"
"Who said I knew?" Richard replied.
"So how are you planning on making the chemicals?" Emma asked.
"I'll figure something out once we get there," Richard said.
What are you been serious now what's you don't know Emma fired
Hey chilax I have this under control Richard said
"We hope so," Emma muttered.
Once they reached the school, Richard climbed out of the car. "You guys stay here while I sneak into the chemistry lab. Linda, you're in charge," he said as he left.
"What do you mean she's in charge when I'm here?" Emma questioned as Richard headed inside.
As Richard sneaked into the chemistry lab through a window, he noticed it was empty, which was a relief. He headed to the cabinets to start selecting the chemicals.
Suddenly, he heard a voice. "RICHARD! Is that you?"
As Richard turned, he couldn't believe his eyes. It was Tasha.
