Late in the evening, under the shroud of darkness, he summoned them to a covert, undisclosed location known exclusively to the core members of the team. Each member arrived discreetly, ensuring their identities remained concealed as they entered the covert meeting room.

As Mike began to recount his encounter with Gloria and presented her offered contract, the atmosphere in the room grew palpably tense. Jim vividly recalled his wife, Linda's mother, making a heartfelt plea in the hospital room.

"Promise me that this child will grow up properly and make everything we have worked for not regretful," she implored with tears in her eyes after giving birth to linda. "Please promise me that," she continued.

Jim, overwhelmed by despair, responded, "Why are you asking me to do it alone? She's your child too. Please stay alive and help me raise her to be everything you want. I can't do this alone," he implored with tears of his own.

"Just promise me you will," Mary beseeched with urgency.

"I will, I promise. Please, don't give in. Keep on fighting, please," Jim vowed.

But Mary's words were cut short as she passed out, leaving Jim to cradle her in his arms, heartbroken.

That day had been a torment that Jim had carried for over 18 years. Now, facing the threat against linda, his beloved daughter, it was a weight that compounded his anxiety, causing him to waste away day by day.

Linda entered her father's room, her concern etched on her face. She pleaded, "Dad, you haven't eaten anything since yesterday. I've told you it's going to be okay. Nothing will happen to me."

Jim turned to his daughter and offered a faint smile. "I can't believe that I brought you into this world to suffer like this. None of this was meant to be like this. You were supposed to have a good life and eventually take over this company. I can't believe I can't do that for you."

Linda rushed to hug her father, offering reassurance. "Hey, Dad, it's fine. Nothing is going to happen to me. I will stay alive and strong for you. So please, don't worry. Eat and stay alive for me," she urged.

Jim then asked his daughter for a solemn promise, and she became concerned. "What's that, Dad?" she inquired.

"I want you to promise me that, no matter what happens, you will always keep going strong," Jim said with a heavy heart.

Linda was visibly distressed, "You're scaring me, Dad."

"I will be strong always, because you will always be by my side," she replied.

Jim persisted, "I know, but promise me that you will keep going if I am no longer there."

Tears welled up in Linda's eyes, "Don't say that, please. I promise I will stay strong. Please make sure you don't leave me."

Father and daughter embraced again, finding solace in each other's presence, both overwhelmed by emotion.
