MY PERFECT BODYGUARD CHAPTER ONE : DAWN OF RESPONSIBILITIES
As the sun rose, its warm rays bathed the world in gentle light. Birds chirped in the trees, and Richard's eyes slowly fluttered open. He briefly thought he had overslept, but when he glanced at the early hour displayed on the clock, a sigh of relief escaped his lips. Throwing off the covers, he hastily left the bed, heading towards the bathroom. However, he was halted in his tracks by his younger sister, Cynthia, who greeted him cheerfully.
"Good morning, big bro," she exclaimed, "there's no need to rush. How about breakfast first?"
Richard, a nineteen-year-old teenager, had grown up burdened with numerous responsibilities. His father, a soldier, had passed away when he was just eight years old, and since then, life had taken a challenging turn for him and his family.
Despite his best efforts, Richard struggled academically. As the oldest student in his class, he faced constant ridicule for his poor grades. His classmates taunted him with the nickname "Old Dummy," and he found it difficult to make friends. Yet, in the face of academic challenges and social isolation, Richard persevered, dedicating himself to supporting his family. After school, he would take on any job available, engaging in manual labor to earn money. His unwavering determination and hard work were admirable, but the mockery at school left him feeling worthless.
Despite the daily taunts and teasing, Richard was resolute not to lose his temper. He understood that retaliating would only make matters worse, so he gritted his teeth and continued his daily routine. His strength and resilience were remarkable, yet the bullying took a toll on his mental well-being. He felt trapped in an endless cycle of pain and frustration but refused to give up hope, believing that one day, he would break free from this cycle and find happiness.
Each day, Richard toiled tirelessly to support his family. After a full day at school, he would head to construction sites, performing laborious tasks to make ends meet. His mother, Maria, couldn't help but feel a profound sense of sadness watching her son bear the weight of their family's financial struggles. She worried that it was affecting his health and overall well-being.
In the face of adversity, Richard remained a determined and resilient individual. He consistently pushed himself to do his best, a quality his mother admired and respected, knowing it would serve him well in the future. Yet, she also wished that he could experience the simple joys of teenage life without the heavy burden of responsibilities.
Richard had barely touched his breakfast when he pushed his chair back and stood up. "Mom, I've got to get going," he said, "I can't afford to be late today." His mother sighed, "Richard, you really need to eat something. You can't keep skipping meals like this." But Richard was already out the door, racing towards school. He knew his mom was right, but he couldn't bring himself to slow down; his grades were already slipping, and he couldn't afford to let that happen. As he ran to school, he pondered on his grades.
Richard was a smart kid, but he struggled to focus in class and often found himself daydreaming instead of paying attention. This, coupled with his family situation, contributed to his poor grades, and he knew it was a problem he needed to fix. However, with all the other responsibilities he had to juggle – taking care of his family, excelling in school, and striving for a better future – finding the time and energy to improve his grades was a daunting challenge.
