MY PERFECT BODYGUARD 2 CHAPTER EIGHT :NAVIGATING DARKNESS
In the hospital room, Richard lay in a bed adjacent to Cynthia, who remained conscious after the blood transfusion. As he dozed off, Emmanuel quietly approached and gently woke him.
"Hey, Richard," Emma whispered, "I brought you some fruits. The doctor mentioned you should eat as much as possible for a speedy recovery."
As Richard opened his eyes, Emma assisted him in sitting up properly on the bed. Richard began eating the fruits, expressing his reluctance.
"I feel strong; I don't think it's necessary to eat fruits," Richard remarked.
"Stop acting tough, bro. You're not okay," Emma replied, concern evident in his voice.
As Richard attempted to stand up, he voiced his frustration, "Why sit here? Gideon is planning his next move. We can't just stay here and do nothing." However, Emma firmly held him down, emphasizing the importance of rest and recovery.
"You're right. This Gideon guy might be planning another move, but I'm here to help, and so is Nina. Don't worry; I just called her. She mentioned your mom slept well, and they'll be at the hospital soon. Your family will be here, and we can keep an eye on them as we strategize how to deal with Gideon. He seems dangerous," Emma reassured, emphasizing the support from their allies in facing the looming threat.
As Richard devoured his fruits, his mom entered the room, concern etched on her face. "What happened?" Maria asked.
"Well, we did a blood transfusion, and Cynthia will be fine. She's recovering now," Emma explained.
Maria's eyes narrowed as she inquired, "Who was the donor?" Emma glanced at Richard, anticipating the moment.
"Why would you do that? You put your life at risk when I am available to donate. How dare you allow blood to leave your veins without my permission?" Maria asked Richard in a fit of rage.
"Mom, relax. You've gone through enough, and this is my duty. It's what I promised Dad," Richard said calmly as he approached his mom, attempting to reassure her.
"You still don't have the right to do that! What if you have anemia? What would I have done if Cynthia didn't make it?" Maria shouted, tears streaming down her face. Richard hugged her, attempting to console her.
"Hey, Mom, it's fine. I'm going to be okay, and I'm now a big boy. Cynthia needs you now," Richard reassured. He brought out a seat beside Cynthia's bed, urging Maria to sit.
Just then, Nina entered with some clothes, placing them neatly by Cynthia's bedside. "Can we go outside? Let's talk," Richard suggested to Nina and Emmanuel.
"Thanks, guys, for coming with me. You can go back to school while I stick around and protect my family," Richard said.
"What! You've got to be kidding me. If you think I'm going to just leave you here alone, believe it. You need me, bro," Emma asserted.
"Hey, boys, what about me? I'm definitely not leaving here without my boyfriend, so if he's staying, I'm staying too," Nina chimed in, emphasizing her commitment to supporting Emmanuel.
"You guys have seen how dangerous this Gideon guy can be," Richard expressed.
"Yes, that's why we're not leaving you alone. We don't want to lose you. We'll stick around and help you fight Gideon," Emma affirmed.
Richard looked at both of them with gratitude, rushing to embrace both Emma and Nina. "Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it," Richard said, acknowledging the support and solidarity from his friends.
"He wants the company through love, and legally, but it seems that I'm the only one getting in his way," Richard explained.
"He said that once he gets the company legally, he'll kill Linda, Richard's girlfriend," Emma added, "so I guess you're stuck with this Linda forever, Richy."
Nina turned to Richard with a questioning look, "Why haven't you been in touch with your family and this Linda for over 11 months?"but somehow they have been trying to reach out to you
"Why are you asking all of a sudden?" Richard questioned.
"Because your mom told me your story with Linda—the journey you went through with her. It was a beautiful story. But you seem not to cherish it. I know you entered through pain, but in that pain, you found yourself," Nina said.
Richard smiled and laughed, "Found myself??? Did you really think I actually found myself, or are you trying to believe that?" he questioned Nina.
"The last time I saw my dad was when I was 8. Before he left, he made me promise him that when he was gone, I should take care of my mom and Cynthia. Making those promises, little did I know he wouldn't be here anymore. For ten years, I was dedicated to my family, worked hard to make sure that Cynthia went to school, and my mom's business was still going. Then I met Linda. I thought meeting her things would be different, but little did I know that I was up for another task—I had to look after her, keep her from dying. I did that because I made another promise to her dad, and actually, I helped her get the company back. Do you know why I'm telling you guys this?" Richard asked Nina and Emmanuel, who nodded, saying no.
"I have spent my whole life trying to stay dedicated to my loved ones that I lost my own sense of destiny. I spent 11 years of my life trying to be dedicated to these people that I lost my own way. After everything was done, I then decided to find my own destiny. I wanted to do something less around them, but it feels like no matter how far I run, no matter how fast I run, I always get to see myself in the same spot I took off from. I thought everything would be back to normal; that's why I went this far to study, but it seems that it can never happen again," Richard said as Nina and Emmanuel held his hands.
"It's okay, Richard. You are not alone this time because you have us. Now let's find a plan to tackle this Gideon guy," Nina reassured, emphasizing the support and determination to face the challenges ahead.
After Richard sent Linda out, she felt heartbroken and ended up at one of the city's biggest bars, drinking to the point of stupor. Franklin, seeing her distress, approached and sat with her.
"I came as soon as I saw your call," Franklin said.
"Thanks for coming," Linda replied. As she stood up, she slumped to the ground, and Franklin had to help her to his car. During the drive, Linda broke down.
"All I wanted was for him to be my husband, the only one to keep me safe. Why is he doing this to me?" Linda cried. "I always want him around me. I feel safer around him. Why does he keep hurting me?"
