MY PERFECT BODYGUARD 2 CHAPTER THIRTY TENSIONS HERE AND THERE
After a restful night's sleep, Linda awoke to find Nina still fast asleep, snoring loudly. Glancing around, she realized they were back in their apartment. Feeling a chill, she wrapped herself in a blanket and got up. It was only 6 am, and the morning was still dark.
Quietly stepping out of the room, she spotted Emma slouched in a chair, fast asleep. The sound of the door opening stirred him awake, and he greeted her immediately.
"Hey, Linda. How are you feeling?" he asked, rising from his seat. "Is Nina awake yet?"
Shaking her head, Linda replied, "No, she's still asleep. Why are you out here? You should be in your room resting," she scolded gently.
"Well, after what happened yesterday, we couldn't sleep. We're watching over you guys just to make sure you're safe," Emma explained.
Linda glanced around and inquired, "Where is Richard?"
"He's outside. It's his turn to keep watch until dawn," Emma responded.
"Oh," Linda acknowledged before heading outside. She found Richard sitting close to his bow and arrow.
"Hey, can I join you?" she asked softly.
Richard looked at her and nodded. "Of course. Are you okay?" he inquired, standing up to offer Linda his hand and help her sit comfortably.
"I'm so sorry for not coming on time to get you. I won't let it happen again," Richard apologized.
Linda shook her head. "Hey, you shouldn't apologize. If there's anyone who should apologize, it's me."
"I was an idiot, knowing too well how much you had to go through to save me, and I put you through the stress again. I'm really sorry," Linda confessed with regret.
"It's fine. If only I responded to your letters, we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place," Richard replied, his tone tinged with remorse.
"I don't know exactly what to say to you to make you forgive me, but all I want to say is that no matter the stakes, no matter the odds, no matter if the whole world is against you, I will be here for you and fight to my last breath," Richard declared sincerely.
Linda felt goosebumps at Richard's words. "Thank you so much for saying that," she whispered, feeling a surge of emotion. She leaned her head on Richard's shoulder, finding comfort in his presence.
"So, what's next?" Linda asked, her voice filled with uncertainty.
"We'll figure it out. We'll come up with something," Richard reassured her, determination in his eyes.
"I mean a way to stop Gideon," Richard clarified, his expression looking serious.
Linda looked at Richard and gently held his hands. "Hey, you don't have to do that much," she said softly. "I'm okay with just being with you. We can leave this country, I have enough money already. We can go to another country, start a new life, and abandon the company."
Richard gently pulled away from Linda, a pained expression on his face. "You don't have to do that, and please stop with the 'let's run away.' You make it look so easy," he expressed, his tone tinged with frustration.
"But I don't care," Linda insisted, her eyes pleading.
"Well, I care. You're telling me to abandon a multi-billion-dollar company because of me. Believe me, I'm not worth that sacrifice," Richard replied, his voice filled with self-doubt and concern for Linda's future.
"Hey, Richard, I'm scared. I'm so exhausted and scared," Linda confessed, her voice trembling with emotion. "No matter how the company is mine, no matter how I take authority over it, it's not working. People threaten my claim on the company, and I've almost died. I'm scared and tired. I don't want to do it anymore," she admitted, her vulnerability laid bare.
Richard turned to Linda, his expression filled with frustration and anger. "That's why I'm here, to fight for you. Your dad worked so hard to keep this company. He died trying to save it for you. You can't just tell me you want to throw it away," he said vehemently.
"It's my company. You think I haven't thought this through? I have, and believe me, I know what's at stake," Linda fired back, her tone defiant. "So don't look at me like I'm someone insane or something."
"I don't blame you. That's because you have it all. That's why you act this callous," Richard retorted bitterly.
"What's wrong with you?" Linda exclaimed as she stood up and left, unable to bear the tension any longer.
As Nina woke up and emerged from the room, she noticed Linda rushing past her with tears streaming down her face. Turning to ask Linda what was wrong, she glanced over at Emmanuel, who was sitting on the chair.
"You're finally awake," Emma greeted Nina as she headed to the kitchen to get a glass of water. After drinking it, Nina felt a strange tension in the air around Emmanuel and didn't know what to say to him. She couldn't even bring herself to face him.
"What's up?" she asked tentatively as she sat down beside Emmanuel, trying to break the awkward silence.
"Do you mind telling me what you were doing at the party?" Emmanuel asked, his tone cautious.
"What are we supposed to be doing? We were just partying, that's all. Can't I just do that again?" Nina replied defensively.
"Don't lie, Nina. I asked around how you guys got kidnapped. You were busy doing whatever you wanted," Emma said angrily, his frustration evident in his voice.
Nina, realizing that Emmanuel already knew, tried to defend herself. "It was just merely dancing. There were no strings attached. We were just having fun," Nina said, her voice pleading. "Even Linda was too. It was just out of fun."
"Don't even drag Linda into this. She's technically not dating Richard," Emanuel added defensively.
"Hey, if you're tired of me, you can just say it. I will understand," he concluded, his tone tinged with resignation.
Nina's mood changed as she looked at Emmanuel with a sad expression. "How could you say that?" she whispered, her voice filled with hurt. With a heavy heart, she stood up and left the room, unable to bear the tension any longer.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel sat contemplating his anger, his emotions in turmoil as he reflected on the situation.
Breakfast that morning was a somber affair as Nina, Richard, Emma, and Nina sat eating in silence. The atmosphere was thick with tension, and the group was engulfed in a palpable sense of chaos and conflict.
That's one hell of tension
